MEET DAN: HOLLAND SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER

Tucked away in a little pocket in West Michigan is someone you should know about.

Meet Dan Broersma, Holland Sustainability Manager, sustainability guru, new partner in our upcoming energy efficiency 101 program, and all-around great guy. Dan’s not afraid to ask “Have you ever stopped and pondered your life and thought how in the hell did I get here?” So what’s that question all about?

SUSTAINABLY DUTCH

Dan shares a lot about his personal journey on his website, sustainablydutch.com. Many of his blogs have tangible tips and reflections on green practices and the benefits to going green. But I wanted to single out his post where he shares his career journey because it’s the best one for really getting to know Dan.

A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

Dan’s post starts out with the cheeky question (above), which leads him into a personal story about his deep connection with nature. That connection and Dan’s passion for sustainability carried him to Colorado, then back to West Michigan for school at GRCC, then to his early career at Herman Miller, and eventually to his Sustainability Manager position with the City of Holland.

UNVARNISHED BUT THOUGHTFUL
