THE EASY WAY TO SWITCH TO A HEAT PUMP

Quite a few friends of mine have squandered their opportunity to get more comfortable heating and cooling, because they didn't know about this hack when their AC died.

So if your AC dies before your furnace, or it might die soon because it's 10-15+ years old, pay attention! This is the easy way to switch to a heat pump, increasing comfort and lowering your carbon footprint.

Here's the trick: you can keep your furnace and just graduate your AC to a heat pump! Don't replace the old dumb AC with another dumb AC, replace it with a heat pump. (If you need to see this visually, click on the link and review the top picture in the article.)

When you upgrade your dead AC to a heat pump, you now have super-efficient cooling in the summer! Plus, you now have two heating systems while you wait for the furnace to die. Much of the heating will be done by the heat pump, but you can set the system to switch over to your furnace at the thermal balance point, or a the economic balance point, if those to numbers are different.

Then, when your furnace dies, you have an intelligent, comfortable, all-electric heat pump that both cools in the summer and takes care of all your winter heating needs as well. Boom! Thanks, you from the past, investing in quality, modern equipment.

This only works in Michigan if you get a cold-climate, "variable speed" heat pump that can heat your home on our frosty January and February nights. You can't get a Mr. Cool from Amazon and expect top-of-the-line results.
